Best DEWALT DCV581H Review – Complete Guide for

dewalt big

On today’s market it is really easy to get fooled by new brands with excellent marketing strategies or old ones that just rely on their brand name to get sales. DeWalt falls into none of those two categories, as they keep pioneering the world of cordless technology. The DCV581H is the only wet and dry option on our list of best vacuums for car detailing. Not only it is exceptionally durable but it can also be charged solely on battery-power and last you a while before those same batteries run out, unlike some other 15-minute models.

Our Verdict: If you are looking for downsides in the DCV581H we will make it easy for you. There are only two – the price is obviously one and the other one is that you have to pay extra to get the battery pack along with the battery charger. Worry not, though, as you can still get this vacuum at a relatively low price by just not buying the batteries. Granted, it would only have to be plugged in then, but it still will be the durable DeWalt tool that can always be charged by their universal batteries further down the road if you decide to make the extra investment.

Here we will go through some of the most important features of this hybrid model and show you why it is an excellent option for people looking to get a good car cleaning vac.

Overview & Features

The main focus of this model should be the fact that you can carry it around as long as you bring the batteries and the charger but we would completely ignore that aspect and go around the vacuum cleaner itself, as if it was a corded tool. This is because not everyone can and will afford the extra 70 dollars DeWalt is charging for their cordless package.

DEWALT DCV581H – Wet and Dry Cleaning Tool

Being able to work both under wet and cry conditions is one of the main reasons car enthusiasts get this vacuum. Imagine coming back from a trip with your kids and your dog and the back seats all covered in sand, mud, dirt, or a combination of the three. You start cleaning up your seats but then don’t want to wait for them to dry up, so what do you do? You use your DeWalt DCV581H. Unlike other models like the Vacmaster BEAST, it doesn’t easily overheat when used for wet cleaning, so you can use it until the seats are sucked dry.

The HEPA-rated filtration system will help with keeping your car’s and garage air clean without recirculating all the tiny dust particles.

One slight downside that we have here is that the tank just isn’t enough for a long cleaning session. 2 gallons isn’t bad and it can be worse (like most handheld models with less than half a gallon) but if you plan on using it for your garage and car, you might need more, depending on how often you clean.

Durability and Construction

In terms of durability, this vacuum is impeccable. From the hose, to the main frame and body, everything is solid and doesn’t feel like anything else in this class except the metal wall-mounted vacuum cleaners. The rigid plastic DeWalt uses is especially good for people who will move it a lot. That casing will protect it from bumps. The clamp and hinge that hold the dirt tank is also quite solid.

The hose is made out of a crush-resistant plastic material and even though it is a little short, it is great at taking at larger chunks of dirt at a time.

Other Features

Unfortunately, this vacuum doesn’t present a large variety of extra features and accessories. Well, technically the brand offers you a very big package of cleaning accessories but they are, of course, sold separately. They are worth the few extra bucks, though.

The design itself is quite smart, we will give them that. Around the handle you have an area in which you can place the power cord and two clamps for the cleaning extensions. The house also has a hanger so that everything can fall into place and the vacuum becomes quite portable and compact when everything is clamped to it. So compact that it can easily fit in the trunk of an estate car or an SUV.

If price is an issue here, check out our VacMaster BEAST series Professional Vacuum review. It is a far cheaper wet/dry vacuum model that doesn’t have the same level of quality but is well-worth a try, especially at one third of the price of the DeWalt DCV581H.

With that out of the way, let’s check out the most notable pros and cons of this mode now.

As a conclusion, the DEWALT DCV581H Wet/Dry Vacuum is an exceptionally well-built model that is slightly more expensive that you’d want it to be. If you want to pay a little extra and get the cleaning attachments and the battery pack along with the charger, then this becomes quite the appealing wet and dry cleaning car vacuum. Still, if you are on a tight budget this just doesn’t seem as a viable option, especially with the sleuth
